Lotus leaf bowl

If you have seen my previous work, you would know I love the lotus theme. Here is a bowl I developed of the lotus leaf. I left the porcelain area bare and glazed the leaved with the glaze I have recently developed. Although the glaze is temperamental, it worked out brilliantly, the slight different thickness, its a total different color
It look as if the lotus leaf was captured under the sun and reflected by the glimmering water.

2013 Australian Craft Award

I have just entered the competition today, very excited. Took three whole days to do the application. I was really worried that there wasn't going to be a sunny day for me take there photos. It has been raining a lot in Melbourne lately. I hardly get any afternoon sun coming in the house. Lucky Sunday was sunny, the house was landmine with cups. I took about 10G worth of photos and picked the 10 that's on the 2013 Australian craft website. Hope everyone will appreciate the work.

2013 Australian Craft Awards - selection of cups

Unique pieces for the unique individuals. Enjoy a piece of art in your everyday life, something you can touch and use, that expresses yourself. That is not mass manufactured, provides ergonomic hold with different texture, satisfy your sensation in visual, touch and taste. Enhance the experience of drinking tea, like the Japanese tea ceremony.

The purpose of my collections are to bring joy to people through the appreciation of the beauty in ceramic, and carry the passion from one to another in our daily life.

The stamp you see on the pieces is the last word of my Mandarin name, pronounced “show”, meaning Jade like stone. I stamp this on my pieces in hope that it will be as what the word represents.

spring is here

Developed from the shape of the frost, using the new glaze I developed. Giving it a variation of colors, from light brown the color of soil to the new leaves' lime green and the branches extending and leaves maturing to a darker green. You can see all that change from one single vase, like that tree in your front yard.

instragram

I have started to use intragram, it is really convenient in a sense. I don't have wait for the right lighting to take photo with my DSLR and photoshop before upload the photos.
Here is the link to have a look online, or you can use the app to search "imisabellawang" and follow me to get updates.

The quality of the shot are not as good but allows me to share this momentary excitement of seeing the first piece for the first time.
